A sniper by trade, the now 86-year-old Chilliwack resident was part of the First Canadian Parachute Battalion and was weighed down with 80 pounds of equipment including: 150 rounds of ammunition, grenades, magazine clips for machine gunners, bombs for mortars and a spool of telephone cable for communication purposes, as well as some rations--and a clean change of underwear he presumes.
