Boilermakers Local 146 donated $10,000 towards the production of a documentary movie describing the history of the Canadian Paratroopers through archive movie footage, archive photographs, live re-enactments and detailed interviews of veterans.

The International Brotherhood Of Boilermakers - Local 146
Published: November 2009
Boilermakers Local 146 donated $10,000 towards the production of a documentary movie describing the history of the Canadian Paratroopers through archive movie footage, archive photographs, live re-enactments and detailed interviews of veterans.
This movie will be televised by a major broadcaster in Canada, followed by US and international releases.
As a sponsor of the movie, Boilermakers Local 146 will be noted under the special thanks in the credits and we will have a feature write up with our logo on their website.
The movie will finish with the 65th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony of D-Day at the Airborne Monument, Siffleur Falls, Staging Area in Alberta on June 5 and 6, 2009.

Peter Braidwood enlisted in the army at the age of 21, volunteered for the paratrooper division, and was among 443 in a battalion that dropped in to France on June 6, 1944--D-Day.
A sniper by trade, the now 86-year-old Chilliwack resident was part of the First Canadian Parachute Battalion and was weighed down with 80 pounds of equipment including: 150 rounds of ammunition, grenades, magazine clips for machine gunners, bombs for mortars and a spool of telephone cable for communication purposes, as well as some rations--and a clean change of underwear he presumes. While the paratroopers were dropping, the Allies were also making bombing runs...
